A little bit about me…

Jordan Banick

I have worked on federal, state, and local campaigns, served as a congressional staffer, been a small business owner, co-founded The Womxn Project—an art and activism organization working to advance reproductive freedom in Rhode Island—and worked in health policy, advocacy, and outreach. As a late reader and first-born child and grandchild, I grew up in conversation in rural Western Washington State.

As I reflect on the different opinions I grew up around, from people who watched the news and cared about their neighbors, I realize that this experience set the foundation for much of my professional life. I love listening to stories and experiences, discovering meaningful connections in the most hidden nooks, and I am at my best supporting, encouraging, and empowering people to use their lived experiences and personal stories to work towards civic change.

I hold a B.A. in Political Science and Communications from the University of Washington, Seattle; an M.B.A. from the University of Rhode Island; and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in the Expressive and Creative Arts from Salve Regina University. This certificate provided the framework to merge the play of the expressive arts with politics and people, and I facilitate workshops through The Expressive Arts Collaborative. As the facilitator of The Victory of Running, I bring the breadth of my education, professional, and lived experiences to this work, with a creative lens that centers on our self-actualization as the foundation for moving into our communal solidarity-building work.

To ensure I uphold that vision for our virtual hub and gathering space, I want to be self-reflective and open to evolving and changing, to know better and do better. I am always open to feedback, new ideas, and different perspectives. I hope this is a space for continuous learning, growing, and inspiration. I bring an open heart and am excited to see the collaborations that will unfold for all of us.
